My one-week work experience placement with Ultimate Creative Communications started with my attendance at their morning internal business development meeting. In this meeting the client services team discussed potential new work and how current project work is progressing; this was then followed by their weekly production meeting, where they arranged the schedules of the designers and programmers for the coming weeks. After this I also attended a ‘Project kick-off’ meeting about a new website design for Combermere Abbey. The team discussed changes suggested by the client following a previous meeting they had already held.
My main project for the week was related to the Combermere website. I was asked to look online at some of Combermere Abbeys competition and analyse what I thought looked good on the websites as well as what doesn’t work quite as well. I was asked to propose what aspects I thought should be included in the new website. I put this into a document and was asked to present this to Amy, the Director, Lisa, the Creative Director, Emma, the Digital Marketing Manager and Charlotte, the Account Manager where I was given feedback and spent some time incorporating this into my presentation.
In the second half of the week I produced a ‘Wordle’ creating the words and tone of voice that I thought should be carried through to the new website based on my research. I used words on their current website and others they hadn’t included. I made a sitemap using Slickplan to show how I thought the website should be organised, what the different sections should be and how the site could be linked together.
This brilliant week has given me a great insight into how a company in this industry works and what they do on a day-to-day basis and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
